Jackie Cohen, Community Navigator for Carers
Hi, I am Jackie, I joined Involve in August 2020 in the middle of the Covid pandemic. I was made to feel welcome and safe when I came to Involves office for my interview.
I have previous experience working with children on the Autistic Spectrum, which lead me into working with adults with disabilities, and then into an enablement team helping people to live fulfilling lives as independently as possible.
This took me into an adult social care referral team, Kent Supported Employment for disadvantaged adults, and an adults Learning Disabilities team.
All these experiences have helped in my role as a Care Navigator for Carers with Involve, but also joining a team that I felt part of straight away and comfortable to learn my new role made the transition very smooth and successful.
I was aware of Involve and from a previous colleague who joined and was very satisfied working with them, I kept a close interest. I have not been disappointed and now 6 months later feel very much part of Involve.
Even though I have not met many of my colleagues in person as such due to social distancing, we have kept in touch over Teams and I feel confident I could ask for support or advice at any time.
I have found this position rewarding and fulling with continual learning development opportunities available, a job that feels very worthwhile making a difference to people lives, even in these most difficult times.
