Sarah Smith, Social Prescribing Link Worker

My name is Sarah and I joined Involve in September 2020, yes right in the middle of Lockdown 2!

Having spent my early career in the corporate and then public sector I found that after a while personal priorities change. I have worked for 2 other charities during the past 12 years, both of which mentored vulnerable individuals with support to achieve their personal goals. When my fixed term contract finished in December 2019 I thought I’d take a few months off but while casually browsing the job sites I came across Involve and the opportunity to work as a Social Prescribing Link Worker. The job role seemed a perfect fit for my experience, passion and interests so here I am!

Starting a new job in lockdown has had its challenges but I have been impressed by the way involve has managed this. I feel very much a part of the wider team and while not yet meeting many colleagues face to face, I don’t think this has been an obstacle.

The role is varied, and certainly busy, but is so rewarding. I like to think that if you can make a difference to just one person each day then that has been a day well spent. The flexibility of the role, the opportunity to manage your own caseload and the great support from wonderful colleagues and partners have ticked each of my boxes!

If you’re unsure of whether this role is for you, I’d say ‘just do it’, pick up the phone and find out more.
