Networks and Forums

Involve facilitate a range of networks and forums. The overall aim of them is to bring together like-minded people to strengthen the voice of the sector; share information; and provide peer support. The forums invite our public and private sector partners to join us to engage and consult regarding issues affecting the VCS.

Voluntary and Community Sector Focus Group (VCS FG)

Maidstone Multicultural Community Forum

Children and Young People’s Focus Group (CYP FG)

Maidstone Disability Network (MDN)

Older People’s Forum (OPF)

Voluntary and Community Sector Focus Group (FG)

This group meets four times a year. The purpose of the group is to bring organisations together to discuss areas of mutual interest and concern, to identify issues that need to be pursued, to network, to share good practice and to provide a forum for discussion and consultation with the statutory sector.

It is a very useful resource for groups to "plug into" - attendance does not have to be regular, meeting agendas will be displayed here on this website and if we are discussing something of particular interest to your group, please come along.

Maidstone Multicultural Community Forum

The MMC Forum works to bring together BME groups in the Maidstone area to help promote a more inclusive and understanding community.

“It has encouraged me to know that there is a platform where I can voice questions and know that someone will know the answer of guide me to the right avenue”

Children and Young People’s Focus Group (CYP VCS FG)

This group meets 4 times a year and brings together voluntary and community organisations that are providing services to/working with CYP. It is a networking, strategising, collaborative event and also elects representatives onto Maidstone’s Children’s Trust Board. The group regularly has dialogue with the statutory sector.

Factsheet: Services for Relatives/Partners with children regarding access issues

Maidstone Disability Network (MDN)

This group meets four times a year. Its purpose is three-fold:

To ascertain the views of disabled people living in Maidstone Borough and to provide a two-way channel of communication between those accessing and those providing services.

To ensure that disabled people’s voices are heard and that their knowledge and experience are valued by service planners and providers.

To ensure that the views of the housebound and isolated, and the disabled within ethnic minority groups, are actively sought and taken into consideration.

Older People’s Forum

The Maidstone Older People's Forum exists to give older people the ability to meet and discuss matters relevant to their lives and wider society. The forums help to ensure older people’s opinions, thoughts and ideas are able to be expressed and shared with others in their local community.
