What we do

The young carers project supports young carers who are caring for a family member who suffer from a long term illness, disability, substance misuse
or a mental health issue. We support children and young people between the ages of five and eighteen. We offer them respite time in the form of regular group sessions with fun activities, arts and crafts, cookery, games sport and workshops, these are shared with their young carer peers. During the school holidays we provide respite trips to various venues, a trip to Leeds Castle, the beach, bowling, cinema, swimming, Adventure Island and much much more. We run the regular groups in Maidstone, Sittingbourne and Ashford after school time. We also provide information, advice and signposting , work closely with schools and Children’s services to offer a holistic approach. We offer young carers support in reaching their potential and nurture their emotional wellbeing and resilience. We have a team of trained staff and volunteers who support the young carers at the group sessions and on all respite trips.
